We get a lot of similar questions from guests planning group stays, family gatherings, celebrations and weekends away in Monmouthshire, so we’ve gathered everything in one place to make life easier. These FAQs cover how Box Barn works, what’s included, what you need to bring, and what you can expect when you arrive at this large holiday let. Booking & Payments

  • Just send us an enquiry through the website or email us directly. We’ll confirm your preferred dates, answer any questions and send over the booking details swiftly. Sorry, we don’t currently have a live calendar.

  • We usually take a deposit to secure the booking, with the remaining balance due closer to your stay. We’ll outline all timings clearly when you book.

  • Yes, a refundable damage deposit is required. This protects the property and is returned promptly once everything has been checked after your stay.

  • If we have availability, we’ll always try to help. The earlier you ask, the easier it is to move things.

  • Minimum stays vary across the year. Weekends are usually three nights, while mid-week bookings are four nights. However at off-peak times, we may be more flexible. Please enquire.

Accommodation & Spaces

  • We can comfortably host large groups across the main barn, bunkhouse and glamping yurts. It’s designed to give everyone their own space while keeping the group close together. 17 people in total. There is further flexibility for those who want to bring motor homes and tents.

  • Absolutely. Many guests book for milestone birthdays, reunions, team getaways and multi-generation family weekends.

  • Yes, all bedding is provided. We also supply towels for indoor use. You may want to bring extra towels for the hot tub.

  • Yes, they’re cosy and warm, even when the weather dips thanks to plug-in heaters.

  • Yes. You can use the barn, bunkhouse, yurts and outdoor areas freely; it works almost like a little village.

Dogs & Pets

  • Yes, Box Barn is dog friendly and ideal for pets who enjoy open countryside and relaxed surroundings.

  • Most groups bring one or two, but just check with us if you’re bringing more.

  • Loads! Raglan, Abergavenny, Monmouth, the Wye Valley and the Black Mountains all have brilliant dog-friendly trails.

  • Just the basics: please keep dogs under control outdoors, clean up after them, and bring their bedding so they settle well.

Facilities & Amenities

  • Yes; we have an 8-seater wood-fired Kirami hot tub, perfect for sunsets and quiet evenings under the stars. It will be freshly filled with fresh water before your stay and have been freshly heated. Keep the cover on to retain its heat.

  • Yes, it’s part of your stay, as are all the facilities you find as you explore the site.

  • Yes, both. We also have a pizza oven, a smoker and plenty of outdoor seating for social evenings.

  • Yes; the kitchen has everything you need for group cooking, from everyday essentials to larger cookware. You’ll be surprised how much we have!

  • Yes, there is Wi-Fi with speed plentiful for streaming.

  • Yes; plenty of space for multiple cars with overflow possibilities too.

Children & Family Stays

  • Very much so. Families like that children can explore safely and have lots of space to play. Close the heavy metal gate to the driveway and you can be confident your little ones can explore within the property boundaries.

  • We can provide these on request; just ask in advance.

  • Parts of the grounds are naturally enclosed, with a heavy metal gate enclosing the drive way. We advise guests to take their own precautions.

Food, Cooking & Supplies

  • Definitely. Guests often prepare family feasts, BBQ nights, pizza evenings or relaxed breakfasts together.

  • Tesco Express is five 3-5 minutes away in Raglan village. While Waitrose and Lidl can be found 15 minutes away in Monmouth or Morrisons, Waitrose and Aldi 15 minutes away, in Abergavenny.

  • Many local caterers, bakeries and producers deliver. We’re happy to recommend options.

  • Yes; lots of space for meals outside when the weather is kind. We also have enough space for a banquet in the barn when it’s mild but a roof is preferred.

Location & Things to do

  • We’re just outside Raglan, close to Abergavenny and Monmouth, surrounded by countryside.

  • Walking, cycling, castles, markets, vineyards, local produce, cosy pubs and more. There’s plenty to explore.

  • Yes, the area is full of scenic routes suitable for all levels. We recommend downloading the Ordnance Survey app for your phone, which offers all sorts of routes in the area.

  • No. The nearest train station is in Abergavenny, 15-20 minutes away and Box Barn is not on a bus route.

Check In & Check Out

  • Standard times apply, but we’ll let you know if early check-in or late check-out is possible.

    Check in, is from 15:00.
    Check out is by 10:00

  • We’ll send instructions in advance. We try to make arrivals smooth and stress-free.

  • If the schedule allows, we can usually help with bag drop-offs. There’s plenty of safe, covered spots to leave bags.

House Rules & Practical Info

  • We welcome celebrations, but we ask that noise levels remain respectful, especially late at night. A noise sensor alerts us to excessive volume. We care about our neighbors, even though the site is not overlooked.

  • We of course will clean the premises prior to arrival of guests. We ask that basic tidying and all washing up is taken care of by our guests prior to their departure. We are happy for you to load and set the dishwasher without unloading before you leave.

  • Yes, just let us know who’s coming so everything runs smoothly.
